During the 2012 season it was announced that the CFA would expand to 20 teams in the 2013 season. David Keyte was awarded a franchise for the 2013 season and placed the team in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Justin Willis would then purchase the team before the end of the 2016 season and move them to Atlanta, Georgia before the 2017 season began.
